edX 6.00x week 4 – it’s all gone a bit Monty Python

Oh dear.

Unlike the experience with MITx 6.002x earlier on this year where the virtual learning environment (VLE) was rock solid, the start of 6.00x seems to have been plagued by technical problems. At various times over the course there have been issues with the on-time release of materials, bugs in the video transcripts and playback speeds, lots of forum downtime, bugs in the problem grader and problems in the problems themselves. The worst of these issues seem to be mostly occurring on a Sunday or Monday, just before the week’s problem sets are due in and when new material is released.

Tonight, we have this banner showing at the top of the VLE – which is a shame as I’ve just started (and I think completed – at least the grader says its correct!) the first part of problem set 4:

Time for bed I think. There is, after all, a whole week left to get problem set 4 completed in! Hopefully things will become a little bit more stable as the course progresses.
