By tim, on January 16th, 2011 at 7:53 pm I don’t feel that I’ve achieved very much this weekend, other than having got through another 48 hours of my life. For those of you who are interested, here it is (was):
Saturday
Went to Sainsbury’s to buy fish for tea and sundry other items (including paracetamol and a copy of the Daily Telegraph. The Daily Telegraph was for the rabbit’s cage – it’s the perfect size). Followed by a quick stroll to Homebase, where I bought some stuff to kill the mould in the shower and bought some sealant as well. Followed by an even quicker visit to Halfords . . . → Read More: It’s been a bits and pieces weekend
By tim, on August 31st, 2010 at 10:36 am On the whole, the revised Lloyds TSB online banking site is ok. I can’t say it’s a vast improvement on what it replaced, but it could have been so much worse. The recent revisions to the BBC news website spring to mind, which have made what used to be an easily navigable site into something that is much harder to use. As a consequence, I’m finding I’m using the Independent’s website more and more for news these days.
However, there’s one feature of the new Lloyds TSB Internet banking site that is driving me nuts. Statements can now only be . . . → Read More: A plea to Lloyds TSB on web usability
By tim, on August 7th, 2010 at 3:27 pm Archie, our house rabbit, has just had a lucky escape. This is what he did, in seconds, to the cable that connects our standard lamp to the mains:
Bunny Damage
I’m now repairing the lamp, and looking for new ways to bunny-proof it. Any suggestions on bunny-proofing gratefully received!
Archie – one lucky bunny!
By tim, on August 5th, 2010 at 12:13 am I haven’t posted for a while as I’ve been busy trying to finish off TMA05, which I’ve completed tonight (weighing in at 1,999 words – phew!) and trying to cope with the other non-OU things life keeps throwing my way. Consequently, I haven’t done much reading or note taking since I got back from the Bath residential school, but having now got the report out of the way I at least have a fighting chance of getting back on track over August.
I’m tempted simply to plough on into TMA06 and do the question on cognition and emotion as I . . . → Read More: DD303 TMA05 – the project report
By tim, on June 23rd, 2010 at 6:25 pm So, the flags will be staying on my car for a few more days. Unless they manage to “fall” off on the way down to Bracknell tomorrow morning, that is …
You can have too much of a good thing, you know
By tim, on June 20th, 2010 at 9:43 pm I’ve been moaning constantly about the number of people driving round with England flags on their cars since before the World Cup started. Well, I need to have something to be grumpy about. I’ve been especially critical of people who have been flying cross of St. George flags with “England” written on them. A fellow blogger tweeted on 12th June that they reminded him of Kenny Everett talking about subtitles for the hard of thinking.
So, imagine my utter delight at receiving these beauties today. They are quite simply the best Father’s Day present ever. Thank you, Jessica.

Watching Admason and his dog, calm but determined, going about their business, Matthew thought: ‘Surely there are people like this all over the world, in every country, in every society in every class or caste or community! People who simply go about doing the things that have to be done, not just for themselves but for everybody.’ … Matthew was anxious to know Adamson’s thoughts, to know whether he had consciously decided to behave in the way he did. But he found it difficult . . . → Read More: Make your voice heard tomorrow
