By tim, on September 24th, 2011 at 9:30 pm Today has seen me attend my final tutorial for DD307 and press the “submit” button on my SD226 EMA. It really is the beginning of the end now, with just the DD307 exam to go in less than three weeks.
I’m sure that at some point in the future I’ll be able to reflect properly on my Open University journey over the last five years. It’s been a lot of fun and I feel that it’s helped me to improve at work too. When I write sales proposals now I think that they make a lot more sense than they . . . → Read More: The beginning of the end and new beginnings
By tim, on September 23rd, 2011 at 6:00 pm I’ve been refining my revision strategy for DD307 over the last couple of days within the three blocks I’ve decided to study (Block 3 – Social Judgement; Block 5 – Group Processes; Block 6 – Production of Knowledge).
I’ve decided to focus the majority of my future revision efforts on a single chapter from each block. Unsurprisingly, as the discursive critique is the only one I’m really comfortable with, all three of my selected chapters pit the social cognitive against the discursive perspective. As none of these chapters came up in a TMA question, I figure that it’s a reasonable . . . → Read More: My DD307 revision strategy refined
By tim, on August 29th, 2011 at 9:05 pm My attempt to complete DD307 TMA06 and the SD226 EMA in a bank holiday weekend has now finished. Strictly speaking, it’s ended in failure, but only just. At the end of the weekend I now have a complete DD307 TMA06, a complete Q1 for the SD226 EMA, as well as draft answers and notes for the remaining two questions and experimental project writeup. A couple more evenings work this week should get me there I think.
Which should leave me in a more relaxed mood for the OUPS DD307 revision weekend at Warwick University on Friday and give me a . . . → Read More: Mission improbable – the end of the beginning
By tim, on August 28th, 2011 at 8:19 pm Setting stretch targets(*) obviously works for me!
While I don’t think I will have completed both the DD307 TMA06 and the SD226 EMA by the end of tomorrow in a form I can submit, I do at least now have a complete draft of TMA06 and a set of notes for the first question of the EMA.
My TMA has turned into a bit of a rant at the end and it’s also too long at the moment (2,273 words). I think I therefore need to take some calm down tablets and then, just like Procrustes, lop some bits off . . . → Read More: Mission improbable – day 2 progress report
By tim, on October 16th, 2010 at 11:18 am My brain is too frazzled to write a proper blog entry today, but I need a break from revision. So I’ve taken a couple of photographs instead:
I hope that some of this is sinking in …
… but my study bunny is not convinced.
All the best to everyone for Monday.

By tim, on October 2nd, 2010 at 8:07 pm So. October’s here and the DD303 exam is looming ever closer. I’ve now managed a complete circuit of the chapters I said I was going to revise, including the ones I’m intending to use as backup material. I feel ok, but I’m aware that I need to do rather more work over the remaining 15 days or so before the exam to get myself to the point where I stand a reasonable chance of getting the grade I want.
As part of the process, I’ve been revisiting my notes, correcting them and adding in links to other material as well . . . → Read More: DD303 – the final countdown
By tim, on September 27th, 2010 at 8:47 pm Things are looking a little different around here at the moment as I got bored with the old theme on the blog and I’ve decided to change it. I was going to wait until after the DD303 exam on the 18th, but hey, what would revision be without a little bit of procrastination?
